Solar storage FAQ

How do I size storage to my solar array?
Base it on the kWh you actually harvest per day and the loads you want to carry overnight. Storing one full day of harvest is a good starting point for most homes.
Grid-tied or off-grid?
Both work. Grid-tied hybrid systems use the bank for backup and peak shaving; off-grid systems need enough storage to carry a full cloudy stretch.
What voltage should I run?
Most modern residential hybrid inverters use a 48V (51.2V nominal) battery bus. Smaller cabin and van systems often run 12V or 24V.
Do these support closed-loop comms?
Yes, most models support CAN or RS485 comms so the inverter reads true state of charge from the BMS instead of guessing from voltage.
How long will the batteries last?
Solar storage banks are rated for 5,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge — roughly 8 years of daily solar cycling.
Can I mix these with old lead-acid batteries?
No. Never parallel lithium with lead-acid. The chemistries charge differently and the lithium bank will carry unsafe current.
