LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) is the lithium chemistry Fleet Lithium uses. It is known for long cycle life, stable voltage output, and strong thermal safety compared to other lithium chemistries — which is why it has become the standard for golf cart, marine, and solar energy storage.

Fleet Lithium LiFePO4 batteries are rated for thousands of charge cycles — typically several times the usable lifespan of lead-acid batteries, which commonly need replacement every few years under regular use. No regular maintenance is required. There is no water to add and no terminals to scrub. Keep the battery charged, store it within a reasonable temperature range, and that is essentially it.

The Battery Management System (BMS) is the onboard electronics that protect the battery — managing charging, discharging, temperature, and cell balance. Match the battery to your vehicle's factory system voltage: a 36V cart takes the 38.4V kit, a 48V cart takes the 51.2V kit, and 72V vehicles take the 76.8V kit. Never mix voltages. Each kit page lists the factory voltage it replaces.

Higher Ah means more range and runtime. Light neighborhood use is well served by lower capacities; long days on the course, hilly terrain, lifted carts, or heavy loads call for higher capacities. Each complete kit includes the lithium battery, a matched charger, a vehicle-specific bracket kit, and the required wiring and hardware — everything needed for the conversion. The exact contents are listed on each kit's page under "What's Included."

Most customers install their own kits with basic hand tools — the kits are designed as drop-in conversions with vehicle-specific brackets. Installation guidance is on each product page, and our support team can help if you get stuck.

No — lithium batteries require a lithium-profile charger. That is why every Fleet Lithium conversion kit includes a matched charger. Using a lead-acid charger can undercharge the battery or fail to charge it at all.

Charge time depends on the battery capacity and the charger's output. As a rule of thumb, divide the battery's amp-hours by the charger's amps to estimate hours from empty. The charger specs are listed on each kit page.

The included charger and the battery's BMS are designed to stop charging when full, so leaving it connected is not harmful. For long-term storage, store the battery partially charged and top it up periodically.

LiFePO4 batteries discharge fine in the cold but should not be charged below freezing. Select Fleet Lithium batteries include internal heating for cold-weather charging — check the product page for whether your model includes it.
